Pet Food Recipes and Pet Food Testing

Trusted resources for cat and dog food recipes, and a resource for pet owners to have testing performed on a pet food.

Trusted resources for cat and dog food recipes, and a resource for pet owners to have testing performed on a pet food.

The two most common questions we receive are where to find quality recipes for home prepared cat and dog food – and (unfortunately) where to have a pet food tested when a pet becomes ill or dies from a pet food. Below are some trusted resources for you.

Home Prepared Pet Food Recipes

If you want to start making your own pet food, it is important to follow a complete and balanced recipe. The recipe needs to provide your cat or dog with all of the necessary nutrients (such as protein, fat, calcium, and so on) and provide those nutrients in the proper levels.

Recipes from Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib are complete and balanced recipes.

A dog food recipe from this Dynamic Duo is available on YouTube – Click Here.

Several cat food recipes from Dr. Becker are found Here – along with a bone broth recipe and great tips for cat owners.

More complete and balanced recipes from Dr. Becker and Rodney Habib can be purchased for a VERY nominal fee Here.

Dr. Judy Morgan provides dog owners her complete and balanced ‘Pup Loaf’ recipe Here – with written instructions and a how to video.

Andi Brown – author of The Whole Pet Diet – provides the recipe for the Whole Pet Diet Chicken Stew for cats and dogs Here.

Dr. Barbara Royal also provides pet owners with complete and balanced recipes for a VERY nominal fee. You can find more information Here.

Dr. Lisa Pierson provides cat owners with a WEALTH of information including some recipes Here.

Pet Food Testing

Dr. Laurie Coger is another trusted resource, providing pet owners with assistance for having a pet food tested. The cost of testing depends on the test – some tests are under $100.00 – some are several hundred. Dr. Coger can advise you of what testing is necessary.

Dr. Coger can also provide a home prepared diet evaluation. If you are concerned a recipe you currently prepare for your cat or dog is not complete and balanced, Dr. Coger can calculate the nutrient profile of the diet for a very nominal fee.

More information is provided on her website – https://checkyourpetfood.com/.

Wishing you and your pet(s) the best,
