Through the FDA Enforcement Reports database, we found two recent pet food recalls that were not publicly announced.
On 3/25/26 Farmina Pet Foods recalled Farmina N&D Tropical Selection Salmon, Spelt, Oats and Tropical Fruits Recipe Dog Food. More than 8,000 22 pound bags of dog food were recalled.
The cause stated in the FDA Enforcement Report: “Mislabeled Dog Food. The ingredient panel on the back list lamb while the front panel of the product list salmon.” The FDA classified the recall as “Class III” meaning it was low risk, unlikely to cause serious adverse events to pets. A Class III recall is not required to issue a public press release.
The FDA Enforcement report did not clarify if this was just an error on the pet food packaging (a printing error) or if the pet food itself was labeled (named) as a salmon based pet food but actually contained lamb.
On 2/18/26 Young Again Pet Food recalled 4,375 lbs of Core Health Dog Food, For Breeds 30 lbs & up, Medium – Large Dog & Puppy Formula due to the pet food testing “presumptive Salmonella positive.”
Young Again Pet Food is a direct to consumer brand (not selling in retail stores), there is no requirement for the company to issue a public press release. Customers were notified via email.
Should FDA issue press release announcements of all pet food recalls regardless of classification or direct to consumer status?
Side note: Not related to the recall, the recalled Young Again pet food’s ingredient list contains an ingredient that does not appear to be an AAFCO approved ingredient. From the company website, these are the first three ingredients of the dog food (that was recalled): Chicken Meal, Food Starch, Chicken Fat.
The second ingredient (the second heaviest ingredient in the dog food) ‘food starch’ is not found in the AAFCO Official Publication and does not appear to be a legally defined pet food ingredient. Because there is no AAFCO definition of the pet food ingredient ‘food starch’, pet owners are not informed as to what this ingredient is, or what the ‘food starch’ is made from.

Good catch on the “Food Starch” Susan! Most common is? Corn. Then potatoes. And why wouldn’t we want pet owners to know that their pet food was a high of percentage corn??? And we wonder why so many dogs, and cats especially, are diabetic. Feed real food people!

Every single pet food product recall, whether high or low risk, should be announced. No exceptions.
USA-Made FARMINA PET FOOD is MAKING Dogs and Cats SICK

OK, Back in early September, a friend of mine with a bison farm and dogs, had ordered their fisrt batch of Farmina dry food.. I got a phone call from them saying that the bag was showing – Farmina N&D Tropical Selection Salmon, Spelt, Oats and Tropical Fruits Recipe Dog Food on the front BUT the ingredients list on the back of the package was for Ancient Grains Lamb. Of couurse, they had no idea what was actually IN the bag. I told them to report to the FDA and to WV Dept of Ag which they did. This “quiet recall” happened in March, 6 months after my friends reported it. Of course, since the Reidsville NC plant opened, reports are being posted all over the internet about the food quality and sick pets including mine back in December. I pushed every complainant towards the FDA and their State Dept of Ag. THEN, one of my “insiders” informed me in February 2026 that there were reps from both the FDA and the Dept of Ag carrying out investigations at the plant. This went on for 3 days. I expect the report will finally come out in September, given the government’s track record on these affairs.
It was roundabout that time that I found the factory’s Bills of Ladings for Imported Ingredients and I was totally horrified to be honest!

They are STILL claiming they use no Meals or By-products and that fruit and veg ingredients are all sourced from Europe!
NONE of their packaging shows MEALS or any other by-products, so they are selling a low quality product for PREMIMUM prices!
I started this Facebook group after almost losing one of my rescues to this putrid garbage in December.

I now have people from the US plant and the Serbian dry food plant (a House of Horrors with no regulation!) keeping me updated with goings-on.
