How can any corporation be so calloused? Menu Foods announced on March 16, 2010 – three years to the day from the announcement of the 2007 recall, they are considering selling some of their assets. Sell away…perhaps another company with a heart will purchase your pet food plants.
There are two types of companies; profit mongers and profit makers. Profit makers believe that the quality of their product will bring profits. Profit mongers don’t care about quality; don’t care about anything but the bottom line. Menu Foods recent actions have sent a message to pet owners…they are profit mongers.
On the 3rd anniversary – the EXACT DAY – of the announcement that became the deadliest pet food recall in history, Menu Foods made another public announcement. “Embattled pet food maker Menu Foods Income Fund says its considering whether to sell all or part of its assets. The Toronto-based fund (TSX:MEW.UN), which was involved in a massive recall of its pet food products, said the decision was made considering the changes in federal tax rules for income trusts which take effect in 2011.” http://www.theguardian.pe.ca/index.cfm?sid=332725&sc=101
“Embattled”…excuse me? Embattled: (a) ready to fight: prepared to give battle. (b) engaged in battle, conflict, or controversy.

“…the decision was made considering the changes in federal tax rules for income trusts which take effect in 2011.” This appears to me to be a political power move by Menu Foods; a sort of threat to the Canadian government. ‘You tax us, we’ll sell so you don’t get our money.’
Menu Foods…NO ONE HAS YOUR MONEY! You won’t give it to the owners of the pets you killed and now you threaten the Canadian government? [insert another expletive here]
A Pet Food Carol
A fictional interpretation.
The tale begins in late 2006. Ebenezer Menu Foods Scrooge is a greedy stingy businessman who has no place in his life for kindness, compassion, charity, or benevolence. After being warned by the ghosts of thousands of pets to change his ways, Ebenezer Menu Foods Scrooge, is visited by three additional ghosts – each in its turn – who accompany him to various scenes with the hope of achieving his transformation.
The first of the spirits, the Ghost of Pets Past, takes Ebenezer Menu Foods Scrooge to the scenes of his boyhood and youth which stir the old miser’s gentle and tender side by reminding him of times he spent with pets as a child. The second spirit, the Ghost of Pet Food Present, takes Ebenezer Menu Foods Scrooge to several scenes of devastated pet owners still nursing melamine ravaged pets in order to evidence to the old miser a sense of responsibility for his fellow man. The third spirit, the Ghost of Pet Food Yet to Come, harrows Ebenezer Menu Foods Scrooge with dire visions of the future if he does not learn and act upon what he has witnessed.
In the final scene, Ebenezer Menu Foods Scrooge awakens on March 16, 2010 with no joy and love in his heart. He spends the day threatening the Canadian government and torturing more pet owners.
The end.
Menu Foods continued actions speak loud to all, they care about nothing other than money; they have no heart.
