“Casey”
February 12 – 15
Casey was up and moving this weekend making laps around the clinic. At last count, he was close to completing his first 10K walk. We didn’t have to force Casey into his exercise routine and he seemed mildly curious as to all the activity in his new “dog spa” environment.
Friday was a tough day for Casey. He didn’t want to eat – which in his obese condition is fine – and he was probably a little homesick.
By Saturday morning, Casey was still turning his nose up at my cooking. On the plus side, he was getting a lot of exercise. I adjusted him and gave an acupuncture treatment to help alleviate any pain, and he seemed relaxed and calm during and after.
Saturday night and Sunday morning, Casey finally ate a little food on his own power – although he was crafty enough to eat all around the medicine I had mixed in with his supper. I finally syringe-fed him supplements and food.
On Sunday morning, Casey greeted me with his tail up and ate his breakfast without any problems. He exercised by doing clinic laps and walking in the back yard.
This morning, we weighed Casey and he’d lost 2.5 lbs. He has now had a full dental and we only pulled two little teeth!
I’ll be back with an update on Friday.
