Multiple Petdine Treats Recalled for Salmonella

With no public notice from the FDA.

Update after original post: Each product recalled was only classified by FDA Enforcement Reports as “ZP”. Thanks to an experienced pet owner we learned that “ZP” stands for Zesty Paws. All recalled product information below has been updated to Zesty Paws.

Eight different treat products, produced by Petdine, were recalled in mid-February 2025 for potential to contain Salmonella.

This is outrageous. Why are we just being notified? I was feeding these senior probiotics up through Feb. (now using Open Farm Probiotics) so I no longer have the canisters to check the dates. I get all the recall notices from three different sites.

I have been feeding my dog many Zesty Paws products, including the canister 8 in 1 vitamins, along with various orastix varieties, plus the dental bones. It is beyond irresponsible that this recall has just come to light. This is a disgrace! Guess I will have to look for more responsible companies now that I can no longer trust my dog’s wellbeing to Zesty Paws. And no customer service number listed? Unbelievable

Just called zesty paws about a couple of the items that I give my max to see if he was poisoned and zesty paws said that these recalled items were never released to the public. They were caught before being shipped.

Gary, thank you so much for sharing this information. I was very concerned because I no longer had the canisters to verify the dates or codes.

With all the firings from “redundant” federal agency communication offices, pet food recalls are probably so far down the list of priorities that there’s probably no one left with the time to do them.

I had a couple of the products on the recall list (one of which I had been feeding with no issues). I called the company and asked if I could have the lot numbers for the recalled products. The rep I spoke with said the ones on the recall list never made it out of the manufacturing facility, so there was no need for concern.

I have been using several of these products from Zesty Paws and also three other supplement bites from ZP that I no longer trust. I understand that Salmonella is not so dangerous for dogs as it is for people and my dogs are not ill although they have both had some diarrhea episodes that might be due to the ZP. I will never know but certainly, I will not purchase from this company again.

SAME WITH MY DOGS AND THEY PASSED IT TO ME. WILL NOT BUY AGAIN. ESPECIALLY FOR THE LACK OF INFORMING THE PUBLIC.
