Pets in New York and New Jersey need food. Here’s how you can get donations of pet food directly to the pets that need it most.
You can purchase a bag of cat food or dog food – or cans from…
Brehons Pet Supply Outlet

Chewy.com

About Brehons Pet Supply Outlet
Bob Foster of Brehons didn’t hesitate when I asked for his help. Bob managed a deal with Fromm Pet Food for a 20% discount on any Fromm pet food. And he managed to get a volunteer to drive the shipment of pet food directly to our distribution centers in the NY/Long Island area.
If you order from Brehons, you can purchase any product – but the 20% discount only applies to Fromm. You will need to create an account and then login. Make your purchase. Choose “Shipping” instead of “Pickup”. A small shipping fee will be added to each order to cover the cost of the U-Haul truck and gas. You don’t have to enter a shipping address here – you just enter the coupon code SANDY. Brehons accepts any major credit card or debit card.
The Brehons delivery will go to Veterinary Emergency Center, 1293 Clove Rd, Staten Island, New York (NY). Rachel of Veterinary Emergency Center told me they have been working with shelters, rescue groups, and other veterinarians in the NY/NJ area to distribute pet food donations – pet owners pick up the donations in their respective areas. And to a distribution center that will cover the Staten Island and Jersey Shore areas.
About Chewy.com
Ryan Cohen of Chewy.com didn’t hesitate to help as well. Ryan, co-founder of Chewy.com, has offered to donate an additional $20.00 worth of pet food for each purchase made by you. Example: you make a $30.00 purchase of pet food to donate, $50.00 worth of pet food will be donated.
To place an order at Chewy.com, go to this special page: http://www.chewy.com/rp/1482 Select your pet food donation. When you check out, you will need to establish an account, enter the shipping address below (this is one of our distribution centers):
Mike’s Feed Farm
90 Hamburg Turnpike
Riverdale, NJ 07457
If you want to call your order in: 1-800-67-CHEWY (1-800-672-4399)
Orders from Chewy.com will be shipped to a distribution center that will cover the Staten Island and Jersey Shore areas. Our distribution center here is Mike’s Feed Farm. Mike’s has already been delivering donations of pet food purchased at his store to hard hit areas – and has graciously offered to be our ‘go to guy’ for distribution in the Staten Island and Jersey Shore areas. (He also shared a great story of a friend in the area – All Star Dogs – that has been donating pet coats to our furry victims of Hurricane Sandy). Mike will make certain our donations go out to many areas in Staten Island and Jersey Shore areas for pet owner pickup in their respective neighborhoods.
Note: Mike of Mike’s Feed Farm tells me there is more of a need for cat food than dog food, and a need for potty pads and chew toys to help keep the sheltered dogs occupied. Also, another rescue group has shared that people are requesting more canned food than dry.
Donations will be accepted until Thursday November 29, 2012.
HUGE thanks to Mollie Morrissette who has helped me every step of the way setting this up. HUGE thank you to websites PoisonedPets.com, DoggingtonPost.com, and DogsNaturallyMagazine.com for spreading the word – all of these websites jumped to help. And Huge thank you to Brehons Pet Supply Outlet and Chewy.com for their generous assistance.
Please donate if you can – and at both stores if you can. Orders from each store are going to different areas, we want to try to get as much pet food up there as possible.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone; it’s all about team work!

Thank you, Susan and everyone who helps our NY and NJ displaced families and pets. Local rescue groups are also asking to PLEASE donate locally for Sandy Relief. The large National Groups, do not spend 100% of the donations locally and do spend a considerable percentage of the donation dollar on administration costs. The North Shore Animal League is a great group helping pets in NY (http://www.animalleague.org/) and The Monmouth County SPCA (http://monmouthcountyspca.org/) has been very active in helping the pets of Central NJ and The Jersey Shore. There are others, too, but knowing where your donation dollars go will save many more pets.
Oodles of Doodles Rescue is a Central NJ based dog rescue helping in the Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts.

I just donated but wish you could put a link on this page to post on my Facebook site. I’m sure some of my family and friends would do this.
