Halo killed my boxer Bobo. Halopets is fully aware that citric acid in their kibble is a high risk bloat factor yet they still use it as a cheap preservative. (Read their blog and see how Donna Spector contradicts herself regarding bloat/GDV).
Citric acid is nothing more than a GMO black mold. Don’t ever buy this brand of overpriced ‘food’.
It’s pure gabrage.

I have had only good experiences with Halo for my Siberian Husky. I adopted her at 1.5 yrs, and she had numerous GI issues. I tried many of the organic high quality foods out there at that time (as I, myself, always eat organic), and they always gave her GI symptoms. I tried Blue Buffalo and other ‘high quality’ foods, and same deal. I ended up trying Halo brand, and for the next 12.5 yrs of her life, she didn’t have another GI issue. I fed her a mixture of human grade proteins (such as salmon or turkey) and veggies daily, along with the Halo Spot’s Stew Chicken or Salmon kibble; and/or the canned Halo products. I always loved that their company sources their animal proteins that are ‘humanely-raised’, have USA sources for most of their ingredients, donate their profits to animal shelters, have high quality ingredients, and – except for this one recall- no other recalls, as far as I know. Halo has some new product lines in the past few yrs, looks like; not sure how they compare to the original recipe lines.
