The organization Earthday.org has released a new report regarding the exposure of plastics on our pets. The Pets VS. Plastics report provides pet owners with a deeper look into the plastic exposure risks of pet toys, pet food, and packaging.
As example, under the section “So What is Your Pet Actually Chewing On?”, the report states:
“Polyvinyl Chloride is a hard form of plastic which is most commonly called ‘vinyl.’ It’s too hard for dogs to chew and could potentially even damage their teeth, so toxic chemicals known as phthalates, often referred to as plasticizers, are added to PVC pet toys to make them softer, flexible and essentially more chewy. The issue is that when your dog or cat chews on a toy made from this plastic cocktail, the phthalates leach out of the toy and can be absorbed through our pets’ gums and skin.”
The representatives of Earthday.org interviewed us (TruthaboutPetFood.com), they even purchased the AAFCO Official Publication investigating the concerning ingredients allowed in pet food and animal feeds. The Pets VS. Plastics report examines the concerning lack of oversight of pet food/animal food safety – with regards to plastics and other concerning allowed ingredients.
As well, this report details the risks of plastics exposure from packaging materials of pet foods; both BPA and Phthalates.

Human food/packaging is not any better. Those long held beliefs that the so-called public health agencies had our (and our pets) best interests have all been found to be quite the opposite.
