Viva Raw Pet Food Recall

Product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

From the Viva Raw website:

To our customers,

We wanted to share additional information regarding our recent recall of Turkey and Puppy recipes from Lot 21244. Out of an abundance of caution we have notified all customers who purchased this product in a certain timeframe, however, only Lot 21244 is affected. At the bottom of this page, you will find the full notice that was emailed to our potentially affected customers.

Background

During an inspection, FDA tested samples of Viva Turkey for Dogs and found samples from Lot 21244 were positive for Listeria monocytogenes. All products produced in Lot 21244 were slated for destruction and we conducted a recall directly with the 3rd party warehouses with whom we work.

After receiving a customer report, we realized some product from this lot was inadvertently released from the 3rd party warehouses. We promptly made the FDA aware and as soon as we received their review & approval, expanded the recall to notify our customers.

Our Actions

In addition to direct correspondence with potentially affected customers, we are also providing answers to commonly asked questions below.

If you still have questions after reviewing all the information and would like to reach us, you can do so at info@vivarawpets.com or at 919-371-8882 from Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm EST. We are eager to help you and know that the health & safety of your pets always come first.

This is what a good company does. They have full disclosure on their website and contacted the FDA. We already know the big companies don’t do that and swear there is nothing wrong with their food. Kudos to Viva raw.

I always share recall notices with my followers. Facebook has decided it violates their rules! I am totally amazed!

A very responsible and open reaction to a problem unlike Purina.

I recently purchased an order from Viva Raw which included your turkey. My pup had horrible diarrhea 3 days ago and has been difficult to get her back to healthy stools!
She now has this casing wrapped around her stools -please advise!

In my feline nutrition group Facebook is now marking links to this specific link, as Spam. 🙁 Grrrrr!!!
I find your articles helpful for people on what to do when things like this happen, so why is FB trying to silence?

I am a new customer to Viva Raw and have had nothing but problems with the packaging of their food which has caused the food to smell bad, turn gray/brown. I have contacted them numerous times and they tell me the food is safe to feed. Now they have reported their SECOND Recall in a six month period. I trusted them to provide quality food and not endanger my 5 dogs who are new to eating raw. I will never feed Viva Raw to my dogs again. They should not be trusted.
