Statement from American Nutrition

Late yesterday afternoon, I received a return call from Traci of American Nutrition. The following is a recap of our conversation and a statement from American Nutrition.

Late yesterday afternoon, I received a return call from Traci of American Nutrition.  The following is a recap of our conversation and a statement from American Nutrition.

Traci was very nice and answered all of my questions without hesitation – with the exception of what they are testing the batch of pet food in question for.  I was told she could not answer this question due to privacy issues with the pet owner who filed the complaint.  She stated there has been only one complaint, however my sources state there have been numerous complaints.  When I asked Traci about this discrepancy, she again stated there has been only one complaint provided to them from Costco.

One part of the conversation was Traci – sort of – complaining that pet owners in general don’t work with a pet food company when there is an investigation.  I told her to try to put yourself in the pet parents position.  I stated ‘If you had just had a pet die, from what you believe is directly linked to the food or treat, don’t you think you wouldn’t trust the pet food company?’  She continued to assure me that all pet food companies want to make safe products and try to fully investigate whenever a complaint is filed.

The following is the statement provided by American Nutrition…

“At American Nutrition, Inc. (ANI) food safety is of the utmost importance.  To assure that the products produced at our facilities are safe, all products are produced using Good Manufacturing Practices, as well as follows HACCP program guidelines.  In addition, ANI uses independent labs for testing of raw ingredients and continues through production and finished product to ensure that every product made is safe for your pet.

Contrary to what has been circulating, there is not a recall for any products or ingredients manufactured or used by American Nutrition, Inc.  Our products are safe to feed to your pets.  If any customer has a question or concern about the product they use they should call the customer service number on the can.  This will directly link them to the company responsible for their product.  All pet food companies desire to provide a quality product and have steps in place to investigate and respond to any concern a pet owner may have.

The quality and safety of our products is of paramount importance to us.  It is a great concern to our company whenever a customer thinks they have received less than our very best.  We take each concern seriously and strive to assist each pet owner with the concerns they have.  Doing It Better is our philosophy in making a quality product for all four-legged friends and their owners.”

My thanks to American Nutrition for providing a statement and for speaking with me.

Wishing you and your pet(s) the best,
