A fabulous question from Dr. Michael W. Fox’s syndicated newspaper column bears repeating. Short and so, so true.
Dr. Michael W. Fox is a friend of this website, friend to pet food consumers. Recently published in his newspaper column, I found in the Washington Post, Dr. Fox responded to a pet owner with one of the best questions I’ve seen about pet food.
Dr. Fox was responding to a pet owner whose dog developed a skin problem; “brown, sticky fluid oozing from the skin around his rear thigh, and the whole area is inflamed.” Dr. Fox looked at the ingredients in the pet food and then he asked these insightful questions…
So very true. Far too many pet foods and pet food ingredients help nothing but the bank accounts of the makers and sellers.
How did these products get onto the market? The people of FDA and AAFCO (State Department of Agriculture) are who approve those preservatives and artificial colors. As well they approve the use of dead, diseased livestock in pet food. ‘Who are FDA and AAFCO helping beyond the makers and sellers?’ In many cases, we know with certainty, they are not helping our pets.
Thanks Dr. Fox for your very truthful words. http://www.drfoxvet.net/
