The Nightmare
By Erin Dakins, Special Correspondent
Summary:  Why commercial pet food is not biologically appropriate for carnivores, and how you can bypass the sales lies to gift your dogs and cats with natural good health.

Have you ever had a nightmare, one so intense you thought it was real and that you were awake?  That left you shaken to your core upon awakening?

Cats Attack Their Own Kidneys After Vaccination
Celeste Yarnall, PPAG Cat Correspondent, and Dr Jean Hofve, PPAG Special Correspondent
Summary:  ARE VACCINES SAFE FOR CATS? We don’t think so but your vet probably does!  Conventional veterinarians consider a symptom or condition to be an adverse reaction only if it occurs within seventy-two hours of vaccination. Acute reactions are uncommon, but they can be extremely serious, and they can have long-lasting effects.  There appears to be a causal relationship between the panleukopenia vaccine and the development of feline chronic renal failure.

What’s happening in South Africa…….
Madenia Raven-Salie, South Africa Correspondent
Summary:  In the past ten years in South Africa, there has been an increase in the number of vet clinics, vet shops, and speciality stores.  Commercialisation of our pets is rampant, and their health continues to deteriorate.

What Every Vet (And Pet Owner) Should Know About Vaccines
Dana Scott, editor of Dogs Naturally Magazine, and PPAG Canada Correspondent
Summary:  When it comes to immunity and duration of immunity for vaccines, there is one clear expert.  Dr. Ronald D. Schultz is one of perhaps three or four researchers doing challenge studies on veterinary vaccines – and he has been doing these studies for 40 years.  Regardless of whether veterinarians wish to take notice of his very large body of impressive research, it is there and it very strongly suggests lifelong immunity for all core vaccines (including distemper, parvovirus and adenovirus).

Global Health Alert over Antibiotic Misuse
Dr Patricia Jordan, Special Veterinary Correspondent
Summary:  A Sky News report about antibiotic misuse makes frightening reading.  It explains why I simply don’t buy into the idea that integrative medicine, the blending of allopathic drugs and vaccines, are at all helpful to anyone’s “health”.  It may give a lot of people a pay check but at what cost to our patients?

Over-Vaccination of Pets: An International Scam
Elizabeth Hart, Pet Parents Action Group – Australia Correspondent
Summary:  Over-vaccination of pets is a multi-billion dollar international scam. But where are pet owners to turn to for protection from this unacceptable practice of over-servicing? Certainly in Australia there is little in the way of effective regulation of vaccine products, or consumer protection for users of veterinary services.  (Nor is there effective regulation in any other country.)

Vaccination of Dogs and Cats – Duration of Immunity
Elizabeth Hart, Pet Parents Action Group – Australia Correspondent
Summary:  This information is useful should you wish to show it to a vet who is advising annual shots.  Professor Ronald Schultz, a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association’s Vaccination Guidelines Group and the AAHA Canine Vaccination Task Force, is the lead author on the review article Age and Long-term Protective Immunity in Dogs and Cats, published in the Journal of Comparative Pathology in January 2010 (Schultz RD, Thiel B, Mukhtar E, Sharp P, Larson LJ. Vol. 142, Supplement 1, pp S102-S108.)

This review article provides pertinent information relevant to companion animal vaccination ‘best practice’, see extracts below.  Key statements are in bold (allowing you to skim and pick out the important facts).

Quoting An Eminent Expert
Dr Patricia Jordan, Pet Parents’ Action Group Special Correspondent
Summary:  Dr Richard Ford is a Professor at North Carolina State University.  He has contributed to both the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) vaccine policy documents.  His honest and frank views give us a view behind the scenes of expert vaccination guidance.

Carnivore Nutrition Course
Dr Jeannie Thomason, PPAG Special Correspondent
The American Council of Animal Naturopathy has recently opened their carnivore nutrition course.  Gain educational qualification and certification in carnivore nutrition or take the course to learn for your own carnivore companion’s sake – currently, this is the only course of its kind in the world.

This course will educate you in the philosophy of animal naturopathy, the natural laws of health, anatomy and physiology of the dog and cat with focus on the carnivore digestive system, carnivore nutrition and how to perform nutritional consultations.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be eligible to take the board examination to become certified in carnivore nutrition and be a carnivore nutrition consultant if you so choose.

Pet Food Regulation
By Jean Hofve, DVM, PPAG Special Pet Food Correspondent
Summary:  Most of the world’s commercial pet food is produced in the U.S. or by U.S. companies, although that is starting to change with the globalization of the economy. There is no single entity that provides seamless overall supervision of the pet food industry; but several agencies and organizations are involved in pet food production and/or marketing.

Dr Jean Hofve will be the PPAG Representative at Regulatory Meetings!  She and PPAG Correspondent Susan Thixton have been given advisory positions on the Pet Food Committee and the Ingredient Definition Committee, the two groups that have the most influence over pet food; so consumers will finally be represented at the table!

The Foundation of Food
Susan Thixton, PPAG Special Pet Food Correspondent
Summary:  Just as you cannot build a house on a weak foundation, you cannot enjoy a healthy pet without a solid foundation that comes from healthy food.  Food is the foundation your pet depends on.  This article translates the sales-speak labels on cans and packets.

Dealing with the Aftermath of Poisonous Vaccines
Iris Parizek and Dieter Harsch, PPAG Germany Correspondents
Summary:  Vaccines contain a range of 80-100 poisonous components which have a very bad influence on the kidneys. Without detoxification, the organism suffers serious illnesses such as cancer. This is a case history highlighting our experience in our homoeopathic practice.

The following vaccination damage case shows a very interesting and rare exception. It describes the vaccine damage of Henry, the emergency we dealt with last Sunday. This case story is published in German on our website: www.gesundheit-und-impffreiheit.de

India – an Emerging Market for Corporate Pet Disease
Arpitaa Pandey, PPAG India Correspondent
Summary: Dog food and yearly vaccination of pets reached our cities in the 90s and over the last 7-10 years it has begun to infiltrate the smaller towns as well.  I do not see dog health improving.

There is No Shortcut
Judith Gintz-Aminoff, PPAG France Correspondent
Summary: Although I have shared my life with dogs for many years, I am new to natural rearing.  I want to avoid the mistakes of the past, and to gift my newly-born puppy and retired older dog with long life and good health.  So I’ve been researching, and trying to find the very best way to care for my new friends.  It isn’t proving to be easy – there is so much conflicting advice, and veterinarians in France don’t seem to be current with the science.
